ボタン

ボタンが昔から好きだということを思い出したのは、つい2、3年前のことだ。

ルーツは祖母にある。

祖母は大きなガラス瓶にたくさんのボタンを入れていた。色とりどりでサイズも様々なボタンがぎっしりと詰め込まれたその大きな瓶から、ジャラジャラとボタンを流し出す。
そして祖母は、私に1枚の祖父の使い古しのハンカチと、縫い針と糸を渡した。チェック柄のハンカチにボタンを縫う、という遊びだ。
お裁縫のトレーニングのような作業だが、なぜだかこれがとても楽しくて、どのボタンホールにも潜る予定のない大小様々なボタンを延々と縫い付けていた。

四ツ穴のボタン、二ツ穴のボタン、コロンとした足付きボタン、一つ一つの付け方も祖母から習った。
今はもう目も悪くなり細かい作業がままならなくなってしまった祖母だが、昔はとても上手に編み物をしたり縫い物をしたりしていた。
残念ながら孫の編み物の腕は全く上達しなかったけれど、ボタン付けだけは思い出と共に受け継がれている。



ボタンは服のイメージを大きく左右する重要なパーツだ。ボタンが好きな子になった孫は、既製服のボタンをせっせと付け替えて楽しんでいる。
シンプルなカーディガンやシャツのボタンを替えるだけで、ぐっと愛着も湧く。ついついボタンがある服を選びたくなるのは、この「ボタンを選ぶ楽しみ」のせいでもある。

アンティークのボタンがたくさん取り揃えられていて、ボタン好きにはたまらない空間だ。ボタンだけではなく古着や本、小物などもあり、また通いたくなるお店が一つ増えた。

出会ったボタンはどれもフランスのアンティークボタン。散々迷って、今回はこの3種類にした。今ある服を思い浮かべながら、ワクワクしながら選んだ。一つ一つ丁寧に作られたことが感じられるボタンを、また大切に服に縫い付ける。ささやかな楽しみは帰宅後も続きそうだ。




意図せず、今日のアクセサリーはなんとなくボタン風だった。yuka takaneのピアスはいろんな服に合わせやすく、ちょっと近所のスーパーに買い物に行くのでも付けたくなる。もちろん都内のアート巡りでも。この冬、大活躍中だ。











I remembered one of my favorite thing about fashion. It's about "buttons".
I sew some buttons on my cardigan and shirt.
If I bought a mundane knitted cardigan which made as mass production with cheaply, I could brush up for them using some favorite buttons. It's
an exciting magic for me.


I learned my "buttons" sawing from my grandmother.
When I was a little girl, she taught me how to sew the buttons, using an old handkerchief and many buttons which were collected in her big jar.

Four hole buttons, two hole buttons, the round buttons with one leg...
I tried sewing many kind of buttons.

As my grandmother has got old, she can't sew and knit which are her special skill.
Her eyes become worse as her age, she is in her
eighties.

I couldn't acquire to knit something...but I learned how interesting I made something by my hand using needle and thread and button.

I went to the little antique shop. It's the specialty shop for buttons!!






I bought these buttons which made in France of course those were vintage items. So lovely.
I chose those little buttons imaging some knitted cardigans and cotton shirts in my closet.
This shop "co-" (https://co-ws.com/) run by the expert of buttons!! As she was a very likeable person and her shop was so nice, I wanted to go there again. I've got another place of my favorites.






Coincidentally, today's my pierces looked like rounded buttons!
It's made by Yuka Takane who is a contemporary pinting artist. Recently I wear these items on my ears when I also go shopping to my grocery store nearby.
